“Hold on tight, it’s a wild ride out there!” “Hold on tight, it’s a wild ride out there!” 🐴 🤠 🌵 ☕️ Well, ain’t that the truth? 🫣 I’m missing this photo 💣er something fierce. When I called @from.1999 to tell him that he might want to come say goodbye to GrandMommie, you know what he did? Got on a plane that very day and stayed almost two weeks. His (in person) smile was like a sweet balm for my heart and soul. Ana, his long time girlfriend even came for a couple of days too. It was such a gift to have both my boys here as we watched my mom slip away over those 7 days. God’s fingerprints were all over our time together. There were some awfully hard moments mixed in with some of the most precious glimpses of heaven here on earth…This is what I know…God is in the wildest of times when we feel like we’re on a bucking bronco and life is completely out of our control…at that moment..,when we hold on tight to Jesus…the wild life becomes a grand adventure sprinkled with love and laughter to get us through the roughest rides and toughest seasons. God is in this space; I’m certain of it. 🤍🩶🤍 thanks @stitchcafeokc for my birthday coffee coupon ☕️ it was amazing (as always). Also, my boys gave my mom the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers from @plantshoppe for her last birthday this side of Heaven. She made it to 85 and 3 days. Happy trails until we meet again, mama! This is 54! It feels like 5 though! I remember whe This is 54! It feels like 5 though! I remember when my mom left me at home while she went to get my sis from school (this was like 1974…much simpler times…she was gone for maybe 8-10 minutes round trip) I was curled up asleep in my dad’s recliner BUT I woke up 😳!!!!! I was terrified. I felt abandoned and all alone…my little world was completely turned upside down for those brief moments. I remember crawling back into the recliner where I felt safe…I waited for things to somehow get better…and finally my mom came home. She felt horrible that I was so scared and never again left me to fend for myself…never…she was always fighting on my behalf in the heavenlies through prayer…and now she’s gone…yes 54 feels like 5 again. Yet, in the midst of pain, we have found a way to play—to be present and enjoy the land of the living even as we grieve the land of loss. This is 54. A conundrum of emotions and adventure…I’m feeling 5 again in so many ways…scared, excited, anxious and yet somehow filled with anticipation for what’s to come. My little Rae often tells herself (out loud), “I am safe.” And that is my new mantra…I am safe in the arms of my Savior. He is near to the brokenhearted. He knows my name. I am not alone. He knows every hair on my head. “I am safe.” She is gone. But, I am safe. #birthday #birthdaygirl #memories #firsts #imissyoumom
Happy birthday to the one who first made me a mom. Happy birthday to the one who first made me a mom. This year is the year we are X2 and won’t happen again…his 27 to my 54(on Saturday). He’s still my favorite birthday present ever…brought him home (4.5 lbs) on my 27th bday. I remember my amazing mom had been with me for the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy due to preterm labor and multiple complications…when we got home with Sid she had a pot roast with 🥔🧅 🥕 and gravy with hot fresh fresh rolls waiting for my birthday dinner. Sweet memories as I head into my first birthday without my mom here. So grateful I’m a YiaYia to this sweet girl…our little Rae of sunshine ☀️ Happy Birthday @_sidneypm !!! I love you! ❤️

No filter needed. Tonight’s sunset hits a little No filter needed. Tonight’s sunset hits a little different knowing Mom’s with Jesus now. There’s not enough words to express how incredibly grateful I am to have had such an amazing mother. Just ten days before her death she was holding baby Rae on her lap singing “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus” over and over again over Rae…it didn’t escape me that this was the epitome of her whole life’s work…praying Jesus over us, for us, to us, in all things and for all her days…she proclaimed His love for us and over us…saturating us in His presence and love in hopes that we, too would know Him, love Him, trust Him and declare His goodness over our lives and our children and our children’s children. This right here is my stance for the week. 🪷🪷I needed this. 🪷🪷Thanks MHN for this encouragement. ✨✨✨Honestly, y’all…as my mom is very slowly slipping from this world, I’m finding myself at a loss for words. For a change, I don’t have a lot to say…One thing I know for sure: God will see me through. 🩶 I AM going to make it through this…but I do feel like I need to take a little breather from posting and pouring out. I listened to a timely podcast by @melaniemredd over on @ordinarywomen.extraordinarygod today that gave me the permission i was looking for to let go of a few things in a moment of exhaustion…so while Mom’s in respite care this week…I think I’ll do just that…take care of me by posting less and being present more, by letting myself off the hook for recording a new episode for next week’s #thegracefrontierpodcast and even from self-imposed deadlines that can absolutely wait. 💯 What matters is what’s right in front of me. What’s really needed is being gentle with myself while I help my dad and sister take care of my mom. Scripture is a salve to our souls. Intense seasons Scripture is a salve to our souls. Intense seasons of waiting and healing are necessary parts of spiritual growth. We don’t always enjoy the process, but if we can learn to lean into God’s Word we will learn to wait better, without getting bitter. Our faith journey marks us for eternity. As we walk through the wilderness, intimacy with God cultivates our hearts to grow closer to Him. It’s here that we begin to look more like Jesus. As Holy Spirit works out what’s all tangled and knotted up within us, we are undone. This unraveling process is the most complicated part of the journey and also the most rewarding. It’s here where God does His best work—setting a fire 🔥 in our hearts, a passion for more of Him and less of ourselves. The Word of God defines us and that’s why it’s so important to ingest and digest it daily. Loved this from a commentary I recently researched: “The first-person narrator describes the taste of the scroll as being as sweet as honey. When the voice speaks again it is to implore Ezekiel once more to pronounce God’s words to Israel. There seems to be a relationship between the ingestion of the scroll, its sweet taste, and the ability to speak God’s words.” (Source in comments) 🤯 Indeed, it’s in the digesting of God’s Word that we nurture ourselves and are then able to repeat and regurgitate what we’ve eaten over ourselves. This is SOUL FOOD for the weary and worn out—it’s the Bread of Life. BIBLE VERSE: “He told me, “Son of man, eat what you see. Eat this book. Then go and speak to the family of Israel.” As I opened my mouth, he gave me the scroll to eat, saying, “Son of man, eat this book that I am giving you. Make a full meal of it!” So I ate it. Yet, dreaming with God is different because we never have to doubt He has our best in mind. So, perhaps we aren’t dreaming big enough. Or maybe, we raced ahead because His timing is perfection. But, friend, God loves you wildly and while the wilderness may break you (in the best possible way) I promise you, He won't leave you for dead. God’s resurrection power brings dead things back to life. His very breath is life-giving; He breathes life into dry bones. Ezekiel reminds us that revival is just a breath away. When the Spirit blows through, the impossible happens. Miracles breakout and the breakthrough you’ve been longing for begins rattling from within. Can you just imagine the excitement Ezekiel felt as he heard the rattling of dry bones coming back to life? Let’s not lose the wonder of watching God on the move in our midst! 🦴🦴 “Then he said to me, “Speak a prophetic message to the winds, son of man. Speak a prophetic message and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Come, O breath, from the four winds! One might say, “What’s holding you back?” One might say, “What’s holding you back?” Another, “Who’s holding you?” Depending on how you look at things…changes everything and everything changes. Perception can make you a liar or a thief—doubting His goodness or robbing yourself of His riches set aside for your inheritances. 1 John 4:18-19 in the NIV says, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love… We love because he first loved us.” Do not fear the wilderness. The enemy would have you believe it is a wasteland, but God never wastes a thing. Just Say Yes! Prayer: Yes, Lord. I will not fear the wilderness because I know that whatever comes my way has been sifted through Your loving hands. When circumstances arise that cause me to fear, I’ll remember Your perfect love. Make me fearless in the face of my enemies, brave before foes, and give me the supernatural courage to walk through what May look like a wasteland, believing your best is on the other side. This barren land we're walking through, the valley This barren land we're walking through, the valleys of hopes dashed and dreams lost, this is holy ground— this is where we see the face of God, know Him more intimately, love Him wholeheartedly. The barren places where all seems lost and nothing grows seems like a wasteland. Yet, is it possible God treads here amidst the doubt and pain? I dare say, yes—because this is where He met me. In the sorrow of not yet, He planted something beautiful. Oh, that I might have eyes to see Him. To get up close and personal with the nos, not yets, and never to bes…just to look a little closer and glimpse the face of He—the One who knows my future and my past and walks this path with me. To know Him is to love Him. To trust Him wholeheartedly is to let your heart believe—better things are blooming though our eyes cannot yet see. When we draw near in the difficult days of the unknown, unearthed, undiscovered, and unseen—this is the holy ground where intimacy is born and bred and becomes our very breath. Breathe Him in. His presence is life giving, bringing dead things back to life. If you’ve buried something in the sands of regret or disappointment, maybe it’s time to dig up your dreams and let God breathe new life on them…place them in your hands, bring them to the throne, ask Him for a fresh wind, let Holy Spirit blow through and begin sifting through it all, the good, the bad and the ugly—until you get to the God stuff. That’s the stuff worth keeping.
